Commercial Grade Wind Turbines often reach innitial life spans of 20 years when they are being well looked after.  That is however often not the end of a Wind Turbine. On the contrary; a wind turbine can get a new lease of life through professional refurbishment, often adding another 20+ years of life.  A refurbished wind turbine can qualify for new warranties and therefore often qualifies for state incentives or government grants such as a new wind turbine would.

During a refurbishement a Wind Turbine is stripped to its bare parts and those parts that need replacing are replaced or overhauled. Typically this applies to the gearbox, yaw engine, generator, rotor, bearings, filters and oil seals.
