Google Invests $39m in Wind Power

Google's diversification strategy is on full course and now the internet search giant, who has previously expanded into telecommunication, maps and browsers, the ocean and the stars, has invested $39m (£25.6m) in two North Dakota wind farms. This is Googles frist direct investment into a large scale green project.  The windfarms are to genererate electricity for 55,000 homes. Cheaper Electricity Through Wind Power says EWEA Report

A study comissioned by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) has concluded that the increased usage of wind power is to reduce wholesale slot prices. The report estimates that wind energy can reduce prices by between €3 and €23 (£2.60 and £19.90) per megawatt hour.  The report states that increased penetration of wind power reduces wholesale spot prices. Taiwan Wind Power Capacity To Go Up 8 times In Next 20 Years

Taiwan currently relies on coal for more than 40 percent of its electricity. It has just published figures stating it aims to boost its wind-power capacity eightfold in the next 20 years to help reduce carbon emissions. New Nevada Wind Farm To Sell Power To NV Energy

NV Energy will purchase electricity from a wind farm proposed for eastern Nevada, the company announced today. The utility has agreed to purchase 150 megawatts of electricity from wind developer Pattern Energy, which has an 8,500-acre wind farm planned for land 30 miles east of Ely. The project is proposed for Bureau of Land Management land and is in the environmental assessment stage of permitting.
