Google's diversification strategy is on full course and now the internet search giant, who has previously expanded into telecommunication, maps and browsers, the ocean and the stars, has invested $39m (£25.6m) in two North Dakota wind farms.
This is Googles frist direct investment into a large scale green project. The windfarms are to genererate electricity for 55,000 homes.
The move is a shift in strategy for Google, which previously sought to invest in renewable energy via start-ups.

Taiwan currently relies on coal for more than 40 percent of its electricity. It has just published figures stating it aims to boost its wind-power capacity eightfold in the next 20 years to help reduce carbon emissions.
This new government target has been set to increase Taiwan’s installed wind-power capacity to 3,150 megawatts by 2030 from just 372 megawatts currently. The figures are published on the the Ministry of Economic Affairs Web site. One megawatt is enough to supply an average 800 U.S. ... Read More

A damming report by the engineer Prof Dough King has been published in th UK. Professor King is speaking out against rooftop turbines. In his report he states that rooftop wind turbines in the UK are little more then “Eco Bling” and those big enough likely to produce enough energy would damage the structure of a house through extensive vibration.
It is fair to say that badly installed rooftop turbines don’t produce energy and judging by what we have seen popping up in UK urban areas we agree with the report. Take for ... Read More
