In July, the search engine giant Google, acknowledged that the clean energy dilemma is one of the United States’ biggest challenges moving forward, by releasing a thought-provoking report. Their report unveiled the results of a huge number-crunching project to see how much change clean energy technology and innovation could have on the US economy and the environment. Google has yet again made alternative energy news (Google invests in windfarm) by announcing it and two Japanese partners will pay GE about half a billion dollars for a majority stake in what will be the worlds largest wind farm. The project is being build in Oregon over a 30 square mile stretch near Arlington.

Google's diversification strategy is on full course and now the internet search giant, who has previously expanded into telecommunication, maps and browsers, the ocean and the stars, has invested $39m (£25.6m) in two North Dakota wind farms.
This is Googles frist direct investment into a large scale green project. The windfarms are to genererate electricity for 55,000 homes.
The move is a shift in strategy for Google, which previously sought to invest in renewable energy via start-ups.

It just came to light that Google won a new patent: A sustainable powered, floating data center. The platform is to sit 3 to 7 miles offshore in seas at least 200 feat deep. Its power will be generated either by wind turbines or by water, i.e. sea powered generators.
