Countries like the UK have and advantage, they are very windy and wind has the potential to meet the UK’s power demands three times over. If the UK would use its coastline for offshore wind power generation it could have a constant supply of non polluting energy. But wind energy will still have to be supplemented by other energy sources such as solar power or biofuels because the strength of wind is variable and the national grid requires a steady and constant source of electricity.
Currently, the UK generates enough electricity from wind farms to power 1.5 million homes a year.
