Earthtronics, the alternative energy company, has developed a small rooftop wind turbine. The 2kw Honeywell Wind Turbine can produce wind power from wind speeds of two miles per hour to 45 miles per hour. So far there are only very few turbines hitting the market that can produce energy from such a low wind speed.
The wind turbine is 6 feet in diameter and weighs 95 pounds. It is meant to be directly mounted on a roof. The turbine generates power without the use of a heavy gearbox, therefore being lighter in weight and working at slower speeds.
EarthTronics say it will be able to produce 2,000 kWh of electricity per year, practically 18% of an average household’s energy needs. The turbine will be available through ACE Hardware which will open up wind power generation to a whole new set of consumers.
The Turbine will cost $6,000 plus about $1,500 for installation. With the new incentives in the stimulus bill, consumers and businesses can claim a 30% investment tax credit and some states offer even more incentives. In the end, the turbine will pay for itself many times over.

  1. Do you have a distributor for this product in Australia?

    let me know.

    I believe I have people that would be interested in this product.

    Ross Brierty

  2. At a 2 mph wind speed the power in the wind is nothin! But you do get it 24 hours a day so 24 * nothing = still nothing.

    This thing is a bad, sad joke.

    Less than 10 mph you can forget it. The 2000 kW they talk about is all generated at storm wind speeds which you rarely get.

    To me it is nothing more than a way to try to milk the incentive cow.

  3. This is extremly cool. I wonder if this is already available in Europe. Would be a nice step forward for my self sufficient (private) home.
    All the best
    Frank

  4. Yes, Frank you can have this for you self sufficient home!
    Just ask mywindpowersystems.com they will help you with all your renewable energy needs!
    Best Regards

  5. Pay for itself many times over. They state it only makes $200 a year in electricity in high wind areas. 30 years to pay for itself once.
    If you want anyone to take this site seriously you should check these things. Just another pump scam.
