This amazing Direct Drive, Permanent Magnet Wind Turbine is specially designed for low and medium wind speeds and applies the latest design in wind turbine technology.

The direct drive, permanent magnet design guarantees reliable performance, efficiency, convenient transport easy installation and most importantly, very low maintenance.

The Benz 100kW wind turbine’s configuration uses an innovative direct drive design (no gearbox) in conjunction with a permanent magnet generator with the end result being a significantly increased reliability for the system as a whole. This type of set up reduces the overall weight in the nacelle and requires a generator speed which is significantly lower (40rpm – 80rpm) than that for a doubly fed inductor generator designs using old fashioned gearboxes which usually need bearing changes after 5 years of operation . All of this means that the Benz 100kW turbine power train is more reliable, has fewer moving parts to go wrong, and requires much less maintenance than convential gearbox equipped turbines.

The result of the direct drive – permanent magnet technology is a system which significantly increases reliability and reduces maintenance costs. Reduced downtime for maintenance also means less non-producing time offline. The elimination of associated mechanical losses that are inevitable with gearboxes, also leads to improved efficiencies in the power conversion process.

The Benz 100kW generator itself is also much more robust than conventional systems, and gives greater efficiencies when wind speeds are not at full rating, compared to the earlier convential designs.

The 100kW Benz PMG/DD 100 can be installed as a single unit on- or off grid wind turbine system or combined as multi-units building an on-grid independent wind farm connection.

The Benz PMG/DD 100kW wind turbine – with a tower height of 35m guarantees excellent yields in the 100kW category at inland sites.

With cut in wind speed as low as 3m/s, the direct drive technology enables the turbine to make efficient use of the prevailing wind conditions at the respective sites to produce sufficient electrical energy. This machine is most suitable to supply electricity for factories, feed the local grid, low cost up- scaling and addition to existing wind farms and on-shore projects.

The Benz PMG/DD 100kW has maximum operation efficiency without increasing operating loads in the full and partial load ranges and at the same time prevents undesirable output peaks thus guaranteeing excellent yield and a high quality of power fed into the grid.
